About Kim
In the five years since I joined the St. Paul Bread Club, I've been able to take my pursuit of great bread -- and great bread-baking -- before a wide range of audiences. My best calling card is my first cookbook, "Baking With the St. Paul Bread Club: Recipes, Tips and Stories," published in the fall of 2006 by the
Minnesota Historical Society Press. Now in its second printing, the book has inspired many to embrace, or return, to scratch baking. The book also was chosen as
a finalist in the prestigious Minnesota Book Awards, through the Friends of the St. Paul Public Library.
I've also:
· presented baking demonstrations for five years at the Minnesota State Fair, speaking from the main Saint Agnes Stage of the Creative Activities building.
· presented at the Upper Midwest Hospitality Show for several years, demonstrating with Klecko of Saint Agnes Baking Co. and founder of the St. Paul Bread Club.
· addressed attendees at the Women in Foodservice annual workshop in 2006 at the Mall of America and the FoodService News Restaurant Convention in 2007.
· bake in a wood-fired brick bread oven that I built in my backyard, after taking a class from master builder Alan Scott.
· for the past three years presented demonstrations about bread at the Mill City Museum, an historical landmark in Minneapolis' grain-milling district.
· spoken and given baking demonstrations at local libraries, university book groups, before the Minnesota Home Economists in Business, and at the Minnesota History Museum..
